Running on a Treadmill for Starters

Running on a treadmill is one of the best ways of exercise you can do at a fitness center or at home, although treadmills are the easiest cardio machines to use unfortunately many of starters use the treadmill improperly for their fitness targets. Here are some tips to help you to get the most from it.

First things first, so if you attend a fitness class or buy a treadmill after reading reviews, but what is your main goal. Do you want to get rid of the extra fat or strengthen your cardiovascular muscles and cardio, or do you want to use it just to warm up before your main weight lift session? So you must decide and be sure about the reason first so that you can find a program that will help you.

As with every sports and fitness equipment, proper usage of the treadmill is a must, both for your safety and your health. So before starting to use your treadmill read the instructions or ask a trainer in the gym to learn the main functions like setting the speed, pausing, and emergency stop.

Do not be unrealistic with your goals, start with a realistic speed and incline that will challenge you, and you will have time for more difficult exercises. Max Speed does not guarantee burning more fat. To burn fat long workouts with moderate intensity are the best way to go.

Treadmills are designed for simulating walking or running indoors. With a good treadmill, you will burn about the same number of calories as real walking or running outdoors. Some advanced models really simulate a walk/run on a road or path. They adjust the incline automatically as adjusted with personal programs so it will be more interesting and challenging.

Always wear a pair of running shoes for when you are using the treadmill, using treadmills barefoot is dangerous and not healthy at all. Also, remember that our feet tend to follow our eyes, so focus straight ahead if you want to stay on the machine.
